Masters in Emergency Medicine

Masters in Emergency Medicine (CCT-EM) is an Emergency Medicine oriented training program conducted by the Society of Emergency Medicine (SEMI).   SEMI is the first and only organisation representing trained/qualified emergency physicians in India. SEMI was formed in the year 1999, with the registration number 3602/2000 and has its head office in Hyderabad. SEMI is a full member of the International Federation of Emergency Medicine (IFEM) and is the only organisation representing India on the global map of emergency care. The course doesn’t come under purview of Medical Council of India Membership of the Royal College (MRCEM) is awarded by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (UK) to the candidates who pass three examination components (Part A, B and C) which will give them a direct access to work in the NHS and build a career abroad.  

This course is aimed at equipping medical graduates, inspired to have a career in Emergency Medicine, to :

 

1. Provide knowledge and hands-on experience in pre hospital care, transport, triaging and in hospital care. 

2. Identify and treat life threatening emergencies 

3. Develop teaching skills through academic activities and conferences. 

4. Have an understanding of disaster management. 

5. Develop leadership and administrative skills in managing the department. 

6. Job opportunities to work as a Registrar/ Consultant in Emergency department. 

7. Provide opportunities to develop a career abroad.   

Eligibility

• MCI recognised MBBS Degree

• Registration at Travancore Cochin Medical Council.

Mode of Selection

• Written exam and Panel interview. The interview panel will use their discretion to select the candidate.

Course Policy

1. Duration: Three years (36 Months) -No exemption shall be given from the period of training.

2. Leave – as per institutional policy.

3. The head of the department will approve the duty hours for the candidates each month.

4. Mandatory 90% attendance required for appearing in final exams.

5. Hostel facility is not provided

FEE

• The prescribed fee shall be paid by the candidate at the time of admission and at the start of every academic year. The fee once remitted shall not be refunded. TC will be issued only after clearing the outstanding dues.
